If today was July 4th, 2017 ... what do you think a conversation around the BBQ table would be like?
Here are some of my thoughts (and fears):
"So they are thinking about raising the National VAT tax again."
"Who knows where all this tax money is going? I know my family isnt seeing any of it. My father died 2 years ago. He got cancer at 81 and the National Health Bureau failed to approve the only treatment that could have extended his life because the cost to age factor formula said it was not worth it. Meanwhile my son tore his ACL and hs been waiting for 6 months for a surgery slot to open up. He's now going to miss playing ball senior year because he won't be fully recovered."
"What the hell happened to this country? Why wasn't this stopped?"
"It was the perfect storm 8 years ago. A country in deep
recession. Congress and the Presidency controlled by one party. A
president adored and unchallenged by the media. A pop cultural novelty president who made people feel good, but failed at governing. If only they knew what
was coming as a result."
"If only is right."
"By the time the 2012 elections were over, it was too late. National Health Care was too massive and to much of a clusterf*ck to dismantle. The new Health Care system coupled with the massive amount of bailouts and failed stimulus packages created havoc. The VAT tax was the only way to avoid a bankrupt treasury."
"Maybe it's time to sell the house and do what seems to be the new trend these days. Immigrant to Mexico."
